For the design duo behind JAM, creating a home is about crafting spaces that feel comfortable, lived-in, and deeply personal. Guided by a confident, casual, and tailored approach, their work begins with standout vintage pieces and draws influence from Scandinavian icons, richly layered textiles, and the stories objects carry.

“Our goal is always to design homes that feel lived-in and loved,” they share. “Spaces with soul, warmth, and a little bit of magic.”

We caught up with them to dive into their process, the design rules they love to stretch, and how thoughtfully chosen details (especially vintage treasures) set the tone for every project.

Can you describe your design style in three words?

Confident, casual, and tailored.

What is your design ethos?

We strive for comfortable, liveable homes that reflect our client's personalities.

Where do you draw your design inspiration from?

A main source of inspiration for us is vintage furniture and textiles. We have our own vintage collection and base our entire design process around starting with incredible vintage pieces.

What does your home say about you?

Our homes (we don't live together!) are reflections of our casual, comfortable design style and are full of curiosities that we're obsessed with, including trinkets from our travels and amazing vintage textiles.

What design “rule” do you always follow, and which was made to be broken?

We are obsessed with proper proportion and scale for each space. Within the range of appropriateness we always push the boundary on how big a decorative light fixture or lamp should be.

What are you working on right now?

We're passionately working on a home in Nashville right now, it's such a great city to pull inspiration from and the music is always flowing!

Do you have any design mentors?

We have a soft spot for Scandinavian design, a few stand outs for us are Alvar Alto or Eliel and Eero Saarinen on the architectural front. On the softer side we're always amazed by the textile designs of Anni Albers.

What’s your favorite way to create a statement-making moment in a room?

We love to make a statement with a unique vintage find, either a piece of furniture, art, lighting or rug.

What’s your favorite piece of decor in your own home?

My favorite item right now is a vintage painting by Bernice Fisher Stacey who was known for her monumental abstract paintings.

Can you share your favorite Schoolhouse product with us?

We're currently obsessed with the Schoolhouse x Pendleton Canebrake Wool Blanket. There are so many colors integrated into this pattern that we can find a place for it in nearly every room. The three distinct colorways are absolutely stunning, we love them all.
