Warm wood, soft neutrals, and just the right amount of moody contrast—this custom bunk nook is all about comfort and function. Designing these bunks was such a fun challenge, thinking through how they’d be used by guests of all ages in this mountain home. From kids and teens to even adults when the homeowners want to pack in friends for a ski weekend, every detail was designed to make the space feel cozy, welcoming, and effortlessly functional. We painted them Iron Ore by Sherwin-Williams—my favorite moody black—for a rich contrast that makes the warm wood pop. Each bunk has its own reading light for a personal glow, and the luxurious bedding from The Brass Bed takes it to the next level. Thoughtful layers that make small-space living feel just right.    Design: slayton.interiors Photography: sierraannphotography   #interiordesigner #interiordesigninspiration #custombunkbeds #mountainmodern #cozycorner #bunkbeds #thebrassbed

Definitely my favorite transformation to date. Really fell in love with this wild pear wallpaper in spring green from marthearmitageprints. This was our first time having a double vanity and wow was it life-changing! We added the solar powered skylight (eligible for a tax credit!) which brought in so much natural light and made bath 🛁 time a dream. #SOWproject3

Today on the blog! ✏️ A 'Phase One' Update on Amy's own home renovation project. Here's a snippet: "As my husband and I are empty nesting—for the fourth time—I am tackling renovating the second floor, which houses three bedrooms, a family room, and a bathroom. I’m trying to get this done relatively quickly and want the project to move smoothly to keep everyone’s time tight and cost-efficient (plus, I don’t want to be under construction all summer). So, I am planning and ordering everything before the contractor shows up. We live in a small bungalow with three kids' bedrooms upstairs. In the last few years, I have realized that when the kids come home, they are usually with a significant other. So, it feels important to make the second floor more accommodating for six instead of three (hopefully more someday with grandchildren). Each room will have a queen-size bed, storage, and mirrors so that they can get ready in their rooms and feel comfortable." Read more (and see some embarrassing 'before' pics of my sister and I's bedrooms) through the link in our bio! 🔗 Which mood board speaks to your taste?

Nice Light, Bad Screws
The light looks great but the painted screws which are visible scratch so easily when installing.

Nice Light - 1 complaint
This is a really nice light that functions well as a reading light on a dimmer switch. The pivot is very versatile and can point upwards as well. My one qualm with it is that the top is open and reveals the component inside which houses the light. This is visible in one of the product photos. The effect is that it looks like it is missing a piece since you can see the metal inner with the specs written on it. This was not an easy purchase overall (timing and customer service for a damaged piece) but ultimately worth the moneyand the trouble since it's so hard to find a light this nice. I will probably design a piece to close the top if it continues to bother me.
