Introducing an artful new assortment of stools and tables from Schoolhouse, the Andy Collection, opens in a new tab. Featured in our Fall catalog, the collection (which includes the Andy Stool, opens in a new tab, Andy Coffee Table, opens in a new tab, and Andy Side Table, opens in a new tab) is scaled to bring charm and usefulness to any room. In reimagining a classic silhouette in new colorways and materials, the collection evokes the very texture of the 1970s.

Although the collection takes its name from iconic Pittsburgh artist Andy Warhol, the inspiration for the Andy Collection came from a vintage stool made in the mid-1960s by a company called Thinline (a subsidiary of furniture manufacturer Brown Jordan). Though examples of this particular piece aren’t easy to find, the ones that survive are beloved for their convenient scale and unique colorways. Schoolhouse founder and CEO Brian Faherty had one in his office which proved and reproved its value many times over the years.

“The colorways are really inspiring, and there’s a lot of utility in this little piece,” says Brian. “It fits into a lot of spaces. You can keep it tucked away and then bring it out when you need an extra seat in a hurry. It’s really durable, too. I think it will outlive me.”

The foundation for every piece in the Andy collection is a single cast aluminum pedestal with a trumpet-flared base. The base is available in four earthy tones, each of which offers a durable satin finish. The Andy Stool is upholstered with handsome vegan leather, while the Andy Side Table and Andy Coffee Table are both available in either parchment-hued laminate with an exposed plywood edge, or an encompassing white oak veneer. Mixing and matching is made easy thanks to complementary colorways that center on rich earth tones.

The noteworthy utility of the Andy Collection will feel at home in a wide array of decors, from retro to modern-industrial. This is one design that has already survived the decades. This new assortment will take it far into the future.
