Inside the Design: The Isaac Collection

Some designs take their time coming together, and some just click. That was the case with Isaac, a lighting family inspired by the playful charm of mid-century “eyeball” lamps. From the start, we were drawn to the sculptural feel and swiveling shapes of 1960s chrome fixtures. But instead of sticking with the typical all-metal palette, we decided to reimagine those forms in a way that felt more aligned with us by introducing painted finishes from our palette, brass connectors, and a modern sense of proportion.

What started as a vision for a simple desk lamp quickly evolved. As we refined the core pieces (the desk, floor, and sconce versions) we realized there was room to grow. Pendants weren’t part of the original plan, but once the idea landed, we couldn’t let it go. We ended up pivoting mid-process, investing in new tooling and revisiting the proportions to make sure everything scaled just right. That change pushed the entire collection further, helping us land on something more versatile and complete than we’d ever imagined.

Throughout development, scale played a huge role. We introduced two different ball sizes and spent a lot of time dialing in the relationship between them (most importantly: making sure the floor lamp didn’t feel like just a blown-up version of the desk lamp). Getting the height and stance right was its own kind of balancing act, but the goal was always the same: to design something that felt playful but purposeful. Friendly, but with just enough refinement to carry weight in a room.

As for the name? It came pretty naturally. Since the fixture’s light and motion work together so seamlessly, “Isaac”—yes, as in Newton—just fit. Maybe a little on the nose, but sometimes the obvious answer is the right one.

Ultimately, we designed Isaac with versatility in mind. Its warm, focused glow makes it a great choice for reading, working, or just softening a space. The smaller scale of the desk lamp is perfect for desks (of course), sideboards, and nightstands, the sconce is ideal in the bedroom, where it can provide direct light without flooding the whole room, and the floor lamp tucks neatly beside a sofa or chair—functional and sculptural with a smaller footprint.

At the end of the day, Isaac is all about balance: function and form, vintage inspiration and modern color, structure and play. Whether you’re lighting a quiet corner or building out a full room, it brings just the right amount of charm to the mix.
