The Designer’s Journal: Bold Interiors with a Global Point of View

For the creative minds behind Lotus Bleu Design, great design is a celebration of culture, color, and craft. Based in San Francisco, the studio is known for its vibrant, globally inspired interiors—each one layered with personality and meaning. Their work reflects a deep appreciation for artisan textiles, rich histories, and the stories that shape the people they design for. “Our style is colorful, layered, and global,” they explain. “We’re always inspired by our travels, our backgrounds in art history, and our love of textiles that tell a story.”
We caught up with Lotus Bleu to learn more about their design ethos, what inspires their bold aesthetic, and how they use pattern and color to create joyful, highly personal spaces. All photos were taken by Vivian Johnson.

Describe your design style in three words.
Colorful, layered, and global.
Where do you draw your design inspiration from?
We draw design inspiration from our international and art history backgrounds, extensive travels, and love of artisan textiles.

What is your design ethos?
To create fresh, joyful, and vibrant modern interiors personalized to our clients.

Can you tell us about your favorite Schoolhouse product?
We love the Jack Sofa in Windowpane Plaid. We love bold textiles, and the playful black and white check here makes it a great statement piece. We often use black with our bold color palettes, as it really grounds everything. Plus, a patterned sofa is much more interesting than a solid one, and will also wear much better in the long run.
