For interior designer Alison Shoemaker of Alison Interiors, great design is about striking the perfect balance between timeless and unexpected. With a style she describes as “updated classic looks with a twist,” Alison brings warmth, personality, and a sense of story to every space she creates.
From a bold, sport-inspired bedroom and bath designed for a young client to layered family homes centered around connection, Alison’s work is both elevated and approachable—rooted in the belief that good design should feel personal. We caught up with her to chat about her design process, the meaning behind her favorite piece of decor in her own home, and the Schoolhouse product she’s currently loving in every color.

How would you describe your style in three words?
Updated classic looks with a twist.
Can you share your favorite piece of decor in your home?
Our dining room table! The table is a place where we all come together and share thoughts, ideas, and a meal. The table is such a symbol of family and I love a round table! You can engage with everyone much easier around it.

What are you currently working on?
I’m currently designing a boy's bedroom and bath which translates to bold blues and greens mixed in with some fun patterns and touches of sport influence. I’m using inspiration from our young client and his self-described "vibe.”

What’s your favorite Schoolhouse product?
I'm obsessed with the Pendleton Canebrake blanket! In every color! That classic Pendleton stylings with an updated pattern—swoon. I want to use it everywhere! The family room sofa, the TV den, the guest bedroom, the office. I'm in love!
